"Plume" looks to create an ambient gravity in its progression through the blanketed anonymous landscape. The revealed landscape could be anywhere and doesn’t look to make reference or importance in its locale. Rather, the piece looks to act as metaphor for the groundless experience in the search for place, for safety and for home.

Shot in Super 8, the film documents an aimless walk through one of Kyoto's former outcaste neighbourhoods. The soundtrack was created using a self-built apparatus we call 'The Octopus'. Voltages from light sensors on the projection screen control an analogue modular synthesizer allowing the film itself to act as a score.

An iconic scene from the beloved Hollywood musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC is transformed through a contrapuntal progression of split screen effects. The resulting mosaic reveals haunting melodies and reverberating dissonance.

Through experimental approaches and visual distortions, Wandering Womb confronts the historical and contemporary consequences surrounding the antiquated notion of "female hysteria". By using found-footage from contemporary films, this also serves to create a commentary on the continuous use of "hysterical" women in Hollywood filmmaking.

Grant Park experiments with the process of photosynthesis and chlorophyll, which uses the sunlight to print 16mm image sequences onto leaves. The images/leaves are attached to celluloid creating an animation of the Grant Park Atlanta location where the leaves were collected.
The film illustrates the Grant Park landscape and the park’s history through the process of photosynthesis. The film sequence is of scenes I’ve filmed in the locations where I’ve gathered the leaves for printing as well a photosynthesis educational film. The film negatives are contact-printed on to the leaves utilizing the process and then each leaf image will be placed in sequence back onto 16mm clear celluloid for projection.

In the Abbey of Graville gardens situated in Le Havre, there is the monumental Vierge Noire which frightened me when I used to cross the gardens to reach the local cinema when I was a child. The soundtrack comes from Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound.

I came across this movie when I was searching for material for another recent video. The totally gratuitous shower scene in this movie was my inspiration, though I was equally inspired by the stop-motion-animated creatures. I simply had to do something with this footage. The result is this video, part of my ongoing Cellular Activity series.
